Local Food

There is a seasonality in the food culture here in Omachi.

The water from mountain raises vegetables and rice in spring and summer, and then they are cultivated in autumn.

Those foods are preserved by using its cold climate during winter; they are dried and frozen outside, and people use them for cooking a little by little to survive the harsh winter.

This is the base of our food culture, appreciating given natural climate and pure water from the mountain to enrich our table.

Wachigai, with a support of producers who inherit hand-made local foods, delivers dishes to show appreciation to the nature and the community.

Please enjoy variety of dishes with stories behind.
