Old houses in downtown Omachi still remains menus from old ages, when the town was prosperous because of Salt Road from Niigata to Shiojiri.  Using sea foods, which were very precious at that time, people treated guests visiting summer festivals at Nyakuichi Oji Shrine.

Omatsuri (meaning festival) Gozen (meaning full course) serves dishes with a touch of Salt Road history, especially Wachigai house has been owned by one of a great family to inherit those ancient menus.
